Custom Wound Inductors

Magnetic components manufacturer in India with a full in-house range

A power converter rarely needs just one wound part. A typical switch-mode design has a common mode choke and a line filter inductor at the input, a ferrite transformer for isolation and voltage conversion, and one or more power inductors for energy storage and output smoothing. As a magnetic components manufacturer in India, NG Electronics makes all of these under one roof at Chimbli, Pune, so a single enquiry can cover the complete magnetics list of a product.

Buying every wound part from one source has practical benefits. The same engineering team reviews the whole bill of materials, so core choices, wire gauges and pin layouts are considered together instead of part by part. Samples for several positions can be evaluated on the same board build, and when a drawing changes there is one revision record to update.

The range covers catalogue parts and build-to-drawing work. Stock toroidal inductors, common mode chokes and drum core inductors are listed in the online catalogue, while custom magnetics are developed from a specification, a reference sample or a circuit requirement. We work as a custom magnetic components manufacturer for design teams that need a new part, and as a custom magnetic components supplier for buyers who already hold an approved drawing and want a dependable additional source.

Design guide

Which magnetic component does which job in a power converter

Each magnetic part in a converter does a distinct job, and the right core and winding follow from that job. Filter parts at the mains input must pass the full line current while presenting high impedance to switching noise. The transformer has to move power across an isolation barrier at the switching frequency without overheating. Output and boost inductors store energy every cycle, so they must hold their inductance at peak current instead of saturating.

Following the power path from input to output is a convenient way to list what a design needs. The steps below trace that path through a typical isolated switch-mode supply. Not every product uses every stage, and equipment such as solar inverters or EV chargers adds grid-side filter inductors and gate-drive transformers, but the same reasoning applies to each position on the board.

  1. Common mode choke at the inputTwo windings on a high-permeability ferrite or nanocrystalline core attenuate noise that appears equally on both lines, while the flux from the load current largely cancels in the core.
  2. Line filter inductorA differential-mode choke works with the filter capacitors to reduce noise between line and neutral. It carries the full line current, so the core is chosen not to saturate at peak current.
  3. Ferrite transformerProvides isolation and sets the voltage ratio in flyback, forward or push-pull stages. Core shape, turns ratio, any air gap and the insulation build follow from the topology and power level.
  4. Power inductorStores energy in a PFC boost stage or smooths the output of a buck or forward stage. Iron powder and other distributed-gap toroids are common here because they saturate gradually.

About NG Electronics

Why choose NG Electronics as your magnetics supplier

NG Electronics was founded in 2017 by Nishant Gaikwad and today works with a team of more than 50 people at Chimbli, Pune. As an ISO 9001:2015 certified company, we wind, finish and test every part in our own facility and keep batch records that trace each lot back to its raw material and production date. That record matters when, as a power electronics components manufacturer, we are asked about a part long after it was dispatched.

Every unit is electrically tested before packing, covering inductance, DCR, Q factor, saturation current and hipot, and a test certificate is supplied with the order on request. Technical quotations go out within 24 working hours of receiving a specification, and a free sample is offered for lab approval before production starts. Orders ship across India from Pune, and overseas enquiries are welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about magnetic components manufacturer India from NG Electronics, an ISO 9001:2015 certified company

As a magnetic components manufacturer in India, we make six product families: toroidal power inductors, common mode chokes, ferrite core transformers, line filter inductors, drum core inductors and custom wound inductors. Standard parts are listed in the online catalogue, and custom designs are built from your specification or drawing.

Yes. A typical switch-mode supply needs a common mode choke, a line filter inductor, a ferrite transformer and one or more power inductors, and we manufacture each of these. Send the complete magnetics list with the electrical requirements and we will return one technical quotation covering all positions, normally within 24 working hours.

Yes. We build to customer drawings and also design from an electrical specification. Custom parts can use ferrite, iron powder, MPP, Sendust, High Flux, nanocrystalline or air cores in through-hole, SMD, chassis or flying-lead formats. Design support is free against firm production intent, and custom samples are typically ready within 7 to 10 working days.

MOQ is flexible. For R&D and prototyping we accept orders of about 10 pieces, and single-piece prototype samples are possible for custom designs. Production MOQ for custom parts is typically 100 to 1,000 pieces, depending on the core and winding. Stock items listed in the online catalogue typically dispatch within 24 hours.

Every unit is electrically tested, not just a sample from the batch. Depending on the part, checks include inductance, DCR, Q factor, saturation current and hipot, using LCR testers, automatic transformer testers, impulse testers and insulation breakdown testers. A test certificate is supplied with the order on request.

We ship across India from Pune and serve OEM and EMS buyers in every region. Overseas enquiries are welcome; share your specification and delivery location by email at sales@ngelectronics.in or on WhatsApp at +91 83290 52861, and our team will respond with a technical quotation.
