A line filter inductor sits at the boundary between your equipment and the mains — blocking the noise your switching stages generate from getting out, and blocking the grid’s dirt from getting in.
Our range covers compact PCB-mounted noise filter inductors through to high current filter inductors and line reactors for three phase industrial panels. We build input filter inductors, output filter inductors, differential mode line chokes and combined common-plus-differential filter assemblies, on toroidal, EE and UU cores according to the impedance profile the application needs.

A line filter inductor is an inductor placed in series with an AC or DC supply line to block high frequency noise while passing the wanted supply current. It works with X and Y capacitors to form an EMI filter, attenuating conducted emissions travelling in either direction between equipment and the mains.
A common mode choke has multiple windings on one core and blocks only noise flowing in the same direction on all lines. A line filter inductor is typically a single-winding series inductor that blocks differential mode noise on that specific line. A complete EMI filter usually contains both, and we can supply them separately or as an integrated assembly.
A line reactor is a heavier line filter inductor fitted on the input of a variable frequency drive or similar equipment. It limits inrush current, reduces harmonic distortion fed back to the supply, and protects the drive's input rectifier from voltage transients and notching. If your drive trips on overvoltage, your supply is distorted, or you have several drives on one feeder, a line reactor usually helps.

Standard builds run from 500mA to around 50A. For higher currents we wind with heavier gauge copper, multi-strand or foil and select a larger core with an appropriate temperature rise budget. High current filter inductors for drives and charging equipment are a regular custom build.
